Rabbi Weinberg message from Israel

July 13, 2018

Shabbat Shalom from Rabbi Stefan Weinberg in Jerusalem!

I have almost completed my third day with AIPAC’s education foundation trip in Israel. It has been an action-packed trip filled with in-depth opportunities to explore Israel’s challenges in Gaza, on the West Bank, with Palestinian Arabs,as well as with a wide array of Jewish voices on the various conflicts. Beginning with a visit to Gaza, where we viewed the tragic impact of recent arson activity and the resumption of rocket attacks, to a Ramallah visit where we met with the Palestinians’ lead negotiator, Saeb Erekat, to the mayor of Efrat we were reminded that the challenges defining life in Israel continue to be so challenging. Yet, time and again, Israel’s resourcefulness shines amidst the difficulties of everyday life.

Thanks to the exceptional talent of the AIPAC team I had the opportunity to record the enclosed video message last night from the balcony of our hotel, overlooking the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem. Please click on the embedded link.

I extend my warmest regards to everyone from Jerusalem. We continue to be the most fortunate and blessed generation of Jewish history. We have a responsibility to visit this extraordinary land, to bring our children and grandchildren to our homeland, deepening their bonds with this amazing country, and preparing ourselves to defend the only place on earth that is eternally home to the Jewish people.

If you haven’t already made plans to join me in Israel next summer on our congregation trip please do so- it will be a trip you will never forget.

Shabbat Shalom v’Hodesh Tov!!!
